Value for Participants
Our programme is designed to support participants through three key phases:
- Where am I now?
- Where do I want to be?
- How do I get there?
People in a career counselling programme vary enormously in their needs. Some are in the rising part of their career seeking to choose the best direction to suit their needs, from many possible options. Others are voluntarily or compulsorily leaving an organisation (often after many years' service), have fewer obvious opportunities and choices, and may lack the skills to succeed in the increasingly competitive job market.
The value for the participant is:
- Minimising the time to return to full time employment
- Learning skills of use for the rest of his/her career (writing CVs, interview skills etc.)
- Structure and timetable to fulfil the process
- A partner in the process. (Barbara Robertson has been made redundant, has relocated within UK and overseas, has made a change of career direction, has returned to major studies in mid career (MBA) etc., so understands the mental, emotional and personal benefits and costs associated with such changes.)
- Confidence that all efforts are focused effectively and productively.
An average time between jobs for redundant executives is three to five months, increasing by one month for every five years of age over age 35. As an example, if expected salary is £36,000, short-circuiting this period from five to three months, the programme pays for itself handsomely.
We assist participants to reach their career goals as quickly as possible. Progress is largely determined by the participant - much depends on the work s/he does between sessions. We work to an agreed timescale and budget.
